Julia Kadel

German piano player, born 1986 in Berlin. She learned at first classical piano. She began to play the piano at the age of seven and discovered her passion for jazz music after years of classical training. As she devoted herself fully to the music she finally studied jazz piano at University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden in 2009. In 2013 she was awarded with the Prize of the Hochschule für Musik Saar. Julia Kadel's musical range varies in between the genres of contemporary jazz, free improvisation and new music, her compositions include narrative stories aswell as contrasting concepts for all kinds of improvisational thinking. Kadel works as a collaborator and side person with artists such as Günter Sommer, Steffen Roth, Karl-Erik Enkelmann, Felix Petry and Bernd Oezsevim.
