Petrus Kaseke

Born in Minahasa, North Sulawesi (1942), Petrus Kaseke is a preserver of kolintang musical instruments (Indonesian). At the age of 10, he was able to create a 2.5 octave diatonic kolintang tone with the instructions of a number of parents who had heard the sound of a kolintang musical instrument. Peter's expertise in making traditional Minahasa musical instruments that are almost extinct has never received an award comparable to his work so far. He is indeed the only surviving Kolintang musical instrument craftsman. In his hands, these musical instruments began to spread to Java and even throughout the world.
