Clay Shumard

Barbershop baritone vocalist and choral director. Began singing when he was in high school and discovered barbershop in his adult life. Sang in several barbershop quartets throughout his life. His most notable quartet was the Vagabonds who placed 2nd in the SPEBSQSA International Contest in 1976. He also directed the Great Lakes Chorus in Grand Rapids. He previously was a member of the Peter Palmer Band as a vocalist. He was born in 1941 and died on October 27, 2012 at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer.
