Born in Seguin on June 15, 1933 in Seguin, TX Died May 25, 2014 in San Antonio, TX Salvador “Pavo” Garcia was a pioneering conjunto musician in the mid-1940s with his older brothers in Los Hermanitos Garcia Torres and, later with his own conjunto, Los Pavos Reales. Garcia, a button accordionist, is counted among the greatest of the conjunto composers with such hits as “Todos Dicen” (later covered by the Latin Breed), “El Borrachito,” “Yo y Mi Botella” and the signature polka “Acordeones de Oro.” He wrote hundreds of songs, dozens that became hits for others, including Joe Bravo and Los Dos Gilbertos. He and his brother, Eddie “Lalo” Torres Garcia popularized the use of dual, harmonizing accordions onstage and on recordings with their legendary conjunto, Los Pavos Reales.
