Cesare Bignotti

Cesare Bignotti is a multidisciplinary audiovisual artist, known by the stage name of "Useless Idea", from the mid 90's, he creates extravagant electronic music and visual arts, which enhance the identity and expressive force typical of underground culture. Over the years he has published for rigorous and specialized labels such as: WeMe Records, (confirmed for years as the new Rephlex), and Suction Records, (which he defined Useless Idea, a unique artist capable of producing authentic IDM music classics, with a personal and unique style). His poetics unite different media, besides music, he creates video art, digital art and contemporary painting, in the years earned the respect of the world of contemporary art taking part in international exhibitions and museum collections, he has exhibited internationally, collaborating with important contemporary art realities such as: Center Pompidou in Paris, Fabrica, Color Magazine, Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, IIT, winning the first prize of the JCE European Biennial in Montrouge, Paris in 2010, (among the main ones). His multidisciplinary imagery is influenced by the aesthetics of artists such as: Aphex Twin, Chris Cunningham, Hans Ruedi Giger, Francis Bacon, Egon Schile. Considered a precursor of contemporary digital art, from the late 90s to today he has created music, video art, starting from the first experiments of Glitch Art, as well as being a leading exponent of street culture and post-graffiti art. Independent Art Curator for representative publications and art exhibitions on the theme of underground culture, he is currently a professor of digital art and contemporary culture at the Genoa Academy of Art in Italy. In 2006 he founded EVES Music, an independent label, of which he is artistic director and executive producer; they have published for EVES artists such as: Charamel Chameleon, Xoop, Pearl River Sound, Rolando Simmons, AFM, (among the main ones). In the past have publishes music under numerous monikers: Dual, Seven Nights Alone, Skinny Guy, Nathan Mayhem, are just some of the names he uses for split the different identity.
