Darren Kuper

American drummer, based in San Antonio, Texas. Kuper began playing professionally in 1988, forming the jazz group The Jazz Protagonists in 1990, playing backup for saxophonist Clifford Scott. He also drummed with jazz combos Synergy and The Bill King Quartet and backed trombonist Ron Wilkins. Outside of jazz, Kuper provided percussion and effects on a children’s album by Owen Duggan, drummed for alt-country artist Doug McNeel, and is the drummer for surf rock band King Pelican.
