Rock outfit from Conway, Arkansas, formed by brothers Greg, Gary, and Orville Boyd Jenkins in either 1968 or 1969 and disbanded in 1972. New Light was inspired by both the church and music of the time, often mixing a repertoire of christian themed songs with covers of bands like Blood, Sweat and Tears and The Rolling Stones. The band recorded and released one album in 1970 titled "A New Light For A New Day", featuring five original tracks, three written by Lead Guitarist / Lead Vocalist Orville Boyd Jenkins and two written by Rhythm Guitarist / Vocalist Jerry Foshee. It was recorded at Jaggars Studio in Little Rock, Arkansas. The album has become popular due to it's rarity and unique sound. The group would perform mainly at colleges and churches. O.B. Jenkins left the group in January 1971, and drummer Gary Jenkins unfortunately passed away in a car accident in 1972. The group disbanded following his passing.
