Grégoire Carpentier

French guitarist and bassist. Self-taught musician Grégoire Carpentier first studied jazz guitar with Frank Coméré, Gilles Grignon and Marie-Ange Martin, before entirely dedicating himself to the bass. Being attracted by composing he has attended Jean Gobinet's et Bertrand Chapelier's jazz arrangement classes, before he entered Jean-Michel Bardez's classical writing course at Paris 10th Conservatoire. In the meanwhile he has spent five years working at IRCAM as a computer music researcher, where he developed innovative composition software. As a performer he as been playing in numerous French clubs and festivals, among them Jazz in Toulouse and Jazz in Orléans. He is currently a bassist in Edelweiss Quartet and Mystère Co, as well as a composer and audio programmer in the Théâtre Electronique collective, with who he creates immersive sound installations all around Europe.
