Jonas Engström (2)

Swedish pianist, choir director and songwriter, born July 15, 1973. He grew up in Tåstarp outside Ängelholm. At 15, he sang gospel for the first time. When Glimåkra Folkhögskola started Sweden's first gospel line in 1994, Jonas Engström was the premiere pianist. From 1998 to 2008, he was project manager and musically responsible for Stockholm Gospel Körfestival (currently Svenska Gospelverkstaden) with festivals, further training days and regular study trips for choir directors to the USA and involvement in the first European Gospel Music Symposium in Krakow. During these years, Engström was also Kapellmeister in the Credokören. He was also a member of Sveriges Körförbund 2012–2016. In 2019, Jonas Engström was awarded the Utbult scholarship for his work on text and music for choir and congregation and for his work with the CD Små sånger om stora ord.
