Tom Schmutzler

Tom Schmutzler showed an early attraction for music and started piano lessons from the age of eight. At thirteen he switched to the organ, went on to graduate from Westminster Choir College as an organ major and continues to hold a church organist position. After military service, he returned to school and received a second degree in music education from Hartt College. In addition to being an organist and choirmaster, Tom's diverse musical activities have included being a teacher of music, ragtime pianist, leader of a six-piece swing band, and an award-winning composer of ragtime, art songs and sacred music.
