The Moondogs was formed in June 1967. The group was named in reference to the Beatles' Hamburg era name "Johnny & The Moondogs", and originally their repertoire was only Beatles songs. The following year, in February 1968, they made a record debut with "Onegai Yo" together with the twin sister group The Puppys (2).
