Rodessa Barrett Porter is the youngest sister of Delois Barrett Campbell and Billy Green Bey as well as a member of the American award-winning gospel trio, The Barrett Sisters. She was the daughter of a church deacon and a mother who sang in the church choir. She began singing as a child in the 40's at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. Under the direction of her aunt, choir director Mattie Dacus, Rodessa along Delois Barrett Campbell, Billy Green Bey, and a cousin named Johnnie Mae Hudson formed the group The Barrett and Hudson Singers before becoming The Barrett Sisters, when Johnnie Mae died in 1950. The Barrett Sisters have more than 10 albums recorded, hundreds of live television performances and international acclaim. As United States Ambassadors of American culture, The Barrett Sisters traveled the world singing God’s praises as representatives of the good things that come from America. Rodessa was a soprano and also became a songwriter, pianist, and choral director of Galileo Baptist church in Gary, Indiana.
