Network Press was an early German House / Hip-Hop / Dance magazine, which started in 1985 and discontinued in 1993. During its publication it altered from a 12.000 copies fanzine to the most influential dance music magazine of the late 1980's and early 1990s. Network Press introduced independent dance charts, the "Network 45" based on the club acceptability of club tracks before their official sales start. Further, Network Press had a close partnership with DMC, started the distribution of Frontline, the most influential Techno magazine and were featuring some of the later most successful dance performers and projects as Terence Trent D'Arby, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Soul II Soul and many many more. Network Press commented the rise of many new music styles and genres, as Chicago House, New Beat, Acid House, (Old and) New Skool Hip-Hop, Teutonic Beats, Techno, Deep House and others. Network Press was ran in the majority of its existence by Ralph Kubick, it closed down, after Ralph Kubick left the magazine because of management dissonances. Network Press did not directly enter music business as a company, but was cooperating e.g. for their Network Press Presents-series with record companies or was active in other ways (e.g. created sleeve notes as for [r1263520]). Network Press was published by M.N.S. GmbH in Munich.
