Lee Schaefer

Folk and jazz singer, and psychotherapist, born in Milwaukee and raised in Chicago. She was a member of a vocal trio called The Barries from 1941 until 1945, performing under the name Lee Barrie. By the mid 1950s, she was a member of the folk group, The Wayfarers. In 1964, she completed a Ph.D. at Columbia University and became a psychotherapist. She married musician and fellow Wayfarers member Hal Schaefer in 1955 but the marriage ended in divorce.
