Metropolitan Hilarion (in the world Grigory Valerievich Alfeev; born July 24, 1966, Moscow, USSR) - Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Budapest and Hungary since June 7, 2022. Theologian, patrologist, church historian, composer, conductor and teacher, Doctor of Philosophy (1995 ), Doctor of Divinity (1999). Chairman of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission (since 2011). President of the Association of Educational Organizations "Scientific and Educational Theological Association" (NOTA Association). Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation (2020). Author of monographs on the life and teachings of the Church Fathers, translations from Greek and Syriac, works on dogmatic theology, articles in the Great Russian Encyclopedia and the Orthodox Encyclopedia, and numerous publications in periodicals. Author of the book "Jesus Christ" (2019), published in the "Life of Remarkable People" series. Author of musical works of chamber and oratorio genre. Author and presenter of documentaries on the history and worship of the Orthodox Church.
