Sacrifice, true kindred spirits, and tight-knit dedication are hard to find in many bands, even for those strong enough to strive well beyond basement practices and bar circuits. From their beginning in 2000, the Indianapolis, Indiana-based group SpiL has been on a steady path of growth helping to redefine the diversity, emotion, and influence of heavy-rock music in the Midwest. SpiL has emerged as one of the Indianapolisscene's leaders in performance and promotion. Diehard commitment is a powerful, unifying motivation for this band. With each member aging in their mid-20s, influences range from 80s metal, to hardcore, to straight up rock,to Elvis Presley. Switching out from heavy to soft, from fast to slow, hardcore inspired riffs to melodic, the music is diverse enough to be accessible to any fan of heavy rock. Part of Spil's strategy is to push every emotional button within their audience with the music. Another way to reach their fans has been through endless hours of cut-throat promotion by passing out thousands of flyers and self-burnt cd samplers advertising their shows and other events. At a good percentage of all Indianapolis local shows, you will see a member of the band and/or Street Team passing out a SpiL flyer or a cd. The effort shows, as the band have a very strong fanbase in Indianapolis and other surrounding cities. SpiL has also aimed its sights at performing live, putting considerable concentration towards amassing more than justa large, loyal hometown audience. Having performed in seven states located in the heart of the nation, SpiL has definately touched on other large music markets then their own in Indiana. After only a few visits to each major city, SpiL has gained fans from: Louisville (KY), Chicago (IL), Columbus (OH), Peoria (IL), Flint (MI), and Detroit (MI) just to name a few. The live performance of SpiL has been described as one to remember with its catchy hooks and heart-felt lyrics. With a fierce combination of raw power, emotion, and melody, the band revolves itself around the pure energy that is created amongst the ambition and dedication of its five members each time a single note is played. After sharing the stage with such noteable national acts as: Taproot, Murderdolls, Spineshank, Boy Sets Fire, Social Burn, Five Pointe O, From Zero, Prong, All That Remains, Factory 81, Beyond the Embrace, Systematic, Unloco, Nonpoint, Kings X, Dog Fashion Disco, and No One, SpiL has definately held their own, logged some stage experience, and paid their dues.
