Mexican-American philosopher, writer, artist and experimental filmmaker (b. 1952, Mexico City, Mexico) permanently based in New York since 1975. Manuel DeLanda is a visiting lecturer at the Princeton University's School of Architecture and teaches at the School of Design at The University Of Pennsylvania. He also serves as an adjunct architecture/urban design professor at Pratt Institute and professor of philosophy at the European Graduate School (where DeLanda earned his Ph.D. in Media & Communication in 2010). Manuel DeLanda created several experimental "post-No Wave" Super8 and 16-mm films between 1975 and '82, after relocating to the United States. They mostly served as the vessel for DeLanda's vivid interest and ongoing research in continental philosophy. Manuel earned his Bachelor's degree from School of Visual Arts, NYC in 1979. Cited in Nick Zedd's "Cinema of Transgression Manifesto," Manuel DeLanda is closely associated with this New York-based experimental film movement. (DeLanda pulled his early works from circulation after the original negatives got lost; the Anthology Film Archives restored and reissued them in 2011). Before his current academic positions, Manuel DeLanda was a visiting professor at the University Of Southern California in 2012 and an adjunct associate professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (1995—2006).
