Carroll Jenkins

Kansas City jazz guitarist who fronted The Carroll Jenkins Orchestra. Jenkins was born October 14, 1927 in Parsons, Kansas. Starting in the 1950s, he functioned as the secretary-treasurer of American Federation of Musicians Local 627 in Kansas City. In 1970, he was appointed as an account executive for America's Best Attractions, an international theatrical agency headquartered in North Kansas City specializing in representation of exclusive attractions for national and local entertainment buyers. Charlie Parker Memorial Foundation was founded in 1971 with Jenkins serving as vice-president and he was instrumental in the creation of the Charlie Parker Performing Arts Academy in 1975.
