The Tasmania Police Pipe Band was raised in 1969 and wears the Fletcher of Dunans tartan in honour of the Police Commissioner at that time, Mr Phil Fletcher. It celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2009. The membership of the Band is totally voluntary and includes a small percentage of serving Police Officers. The majority of the membership is drawn from the community.
