José Antonio Calcaño

Venezuelan musician (celist, pianist), composer, chorus master, teacher, music critic, TV host (Caracas, 23 Mar. 1900 - 11 Sep. 1978), he created the chorus Orfeón Lamas in 1929 with Vicente Emilio Sojo and Juan Bautista Plaza, the chorus and Coral Creole in 1952, the ensemble Los Madrigalistas in 1953, founding member of the [a5986954] in 1930, founded and directed the conservatory Teresa Carreño (1951-1959), member of the "Renovación" movement with his cousin Miguel Angel Calcaño and Vicente Emilio Sojo
