Fritz Rémond

(born October 9, 1902 in Karlsruhe, † March 31, 1976 in Bad Nauheim) was a German actor, director and impresario. He founded the Kleines Theater Im Zoo in Frankfurt, which was named after him. He came from a family of artists rich in tradition: his paternal grandmother was the singer Maria Rémond-Heinemann (1831-1902). Her son, Fritz Rémond senior (1864-1936), an important hero tenor, later became director of the Cologne Opera (until 1928) with Otto Klemperer as General Music Director. Fritz Rémond senior's nephew was the actor and comedy writer Curt Goetz.
