Born in 1909 in Arkia, Louisiana just below the Arkansas line. He has lived most of his life in southeastern Arkansas, and when he was an active musician, he played primarly at country suppers and dances. He was a sole performer in songster traditon then, an his reperoire included blues, boogies, slow drags, marches, tow-steps and charlestons
