Matthew J. Thomson is a musician and sound engineer from St-John's, Newfoundland. Former member of now defunct Montreal outfit Open Fields, and currently one half of Land of the Lakes and the other half of Yelverton Undertow. He also played bass on Eric Penney's EP's Ashland, which he recorded and mixed. As of 2007, he owns and operates Insert Name Here, a project studio, out of St-John's, Newfoundland. From Insert Name Here's about page: "In addition to writing, engineering and producing multiple albums from his project studio, Matthew has co-written and engineered a Canadian Screen Award nominated song (Tender Steps from Crackie), produced an Atlantis Award-nominated album (Cherie Pyne's La Marée Noire), and has worked as an assistant in the music and foley studio at the National Film Board of Canada in Montreal, Quebec." Matthew is also an audio Foley engineer, ADR engineer, audio editor, mixer and location sound recordist in the Canadian film based in St. John's Newfoundland. and has been nominated for a number of music and film awards including three Canadian Screen awards, 1 for music composition and two for Foley engineering and editing.
