Pablo Barrios

Paraguayan singer and composer. Born in Caraguatay on January 25, 1936. He started in music in the army and from 1952 in the Music Banda de Músicos de la Policía de la Capital of which he was a member in 1953. In 1962 he was part of the ensemble Los Alfonsinos, together with Alfonso González (paraguayan harp), Gregorio Martínez (2) (accordion) and Quemil Yambay (singing). That same year he recorded his first LP - «Los Alfonsinos» for the Asunción label (later Cerro Corá). In 1966, Pablo Barrios, in agreement with his duo and fellow townsman Quemil Yambay, decide to separate to walk different routes, and so Pablo forms the folkloric musical group Pablo Barrios Y Su Conjunto Paraguayo, singing a duet with Eusebio Contrera, Alfonso Jiménez (2) on paraguayan harp, Cirilo A. Rivarola on accordion and Cirilo Ortega on bass. In 1985, he took charge of the artistic direction of the Commander-in-Chief of the General Staff.
