The group was formed by guitarist, Julian Gomez and drummer, Roger Bethelmy. Their influences and pursuit of profound music led them to add Eric Nicolas as their permanent vocalist in 1998. Many attempts and efforts were made to incorporate the impact and synthesis of various mainstream hard rock and heavy metal influences into their music. In late September 1998, they selected Tony Seanz as their bassist, who completes the already enduring and powerful group that makes up what is now strict-9. In just a few months, strict-9 has performed at marquee venues such as, Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood and The Roxy in Hollywood, while staying true to their roots by playing local clubs like Al’s Bar and Mr. T’s Bowl in Los Angeles. Strict-9 has also put together an aggressive five song EP entitled “Clear”, which encompasses the full energy and precise changes that is felt strongly in their live performances. Strict-9 has moved many people through their music and has developed a strong rooted following. Fusing the aspects of yesterday’s heavy metal with today’s alternative rock, strict-9 continues to work on new material for their fans to appreciate.
