Mario Spate

German born Mario Späte is a producer / songwriter / sound designer and mixing engineer based in Australia. His strength as a songwriter comes from his theatrical background which gives him a unique perspective on storytelling and dramatic arcs within a song. His work takes him from contemporary music to theatre and television. Mario has worked and written with some of the biggest names in Australian music including Tkay Maidza, Allday, Urthboy, Woodes, Evan Klar, Heaps Good Friends, MANE, Flamingo, JP Fung, Nakatomi, Nicole Millar, KLP, Jake Stone (Bluejuice), Okenyo, The Land Below (Sweden) and ARIA winning artists, Megan Washington and Montaigne. His theatre credits include compositions for many Austrian leading Dance and Theatre companies including Restless Dance Theatre, State Theatre SA and Patch Theatre Company. He has shared in two Critic Circle Awards for ‘Bash’ and ‘Sons And Mothers’, Best theatre at the 2017 Adelaide Fringe and a coveted Melbourne Greenroom Award. 2018 will see the release of Closer Production’s ABC mini series ‘Fucking Adelaide’, for which he composed the original score, featuring Pamela Rabe, Kate Box, Brendan Mclean and Tilda Cobham-Hervey.
