From the back of AL Carvell's "The Original Lone Star Cowboy": Al Carvell was born in the United States in 1907 and is a full-blooded American. At the age of nine years he began to play music and was always gifted to that line of word [sic]. His hobbies are his old guitar and a shade tree. At the age of seventeen he began roaming over the country as the "Lonesome Road Yodeler." Thirty-three years ago Al went on the radio. Since then he has played over radio stations all over the United States. Here are a few of them: WFIW, WSM under the direction of Mr. Harry Stone, WAPI, WNRA, WRR, WFAA, and WBAP in Fort Worth, Texas. Al was given the name of "The Lone Star Cowboy" by Bill Boyd of WRR, Dallas, Texas. Al has his own recording unit, where he has passed away many hours making records to send to different parts of the country. He has always had the name of being a high mail puller and is loved by all radio fans throughout the country. In 1936, Al came to Nashville and started a group of entertainers under the name of the Chuck Wagon Gang, playing over station WSIX for seven years. In the meantime he has been on stations WHUB and WMSD. For over five years he has been stationed on WLAC. He has mailed out over 15,000 pictures and over 50,000 song books. He also plays on WMAK and WKDA. Al has been seen and heard every Saturday night with Burt Hutchon and "the Gully Jumpers" and also Stanley Walden and "the Possum Hunters" over WSM Grand Ole Opry, the world's most popular radio station. Al is also heard quite often on Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree, from twelve till one on world-wide broadcast over WSM, and has been seen and heard over WSM-TV quite often with Marty Robbins. He has appeared also over WLAC-TV and WSIX-TV. It has been a pleasure for the years back for Al to bring you these radio programs and TV shows, hoping you have enjoyed them as much as Al has putting them on for you. He now has over 400 hillbilly and Western songs of his own. Al's biggest hopes are that he can continue putting on his programs throughout the world to his radio friends. AL Carvell P.O.
