Guitarist, singer, songwriter and private investigator from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Hirstius was known as the "rock and roll detective." Hirstius was born January 26, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana and died May 25, 2012, in Metairie, Louisiana. He began his career as a guitarist and vocalist with the band Mongrel. He went on to play with Lil Brooklyn, the Topcats, Continental Drifters, the Jr. Mays Band, Levon Helm, Theresa Anderson and his own group Gary Hirstius & Day Seven (aka Day 7).
