Jesús Ávila o "Chú" Ávila, born on August 27, 1930, Los Robles, Margarita, Edo. Nueva Esparta, Venezuela. His musical training is partly due to his master José Augusto de León, author of the Himno del Día del Maestro. At the age of 17 he settled in La Guaira, Edo. Vargas, where he worked as a brick layer and technician. Upon returning to Margarita, after living for several years in Caracas, he decided to record his compositions. He formed the group Cuerdas Espartanas in the 60s and, in the following decade, he dedicated himself to publishing records, presenting the popular music in Margarita. Among his best-known songs are Rumbo a Oriente, El Guanaguanare (popularized by Nancy Ramos in the 70s), Elegía Margariteña, El gallo de Pascualita, Rauda, rauda, El mar, Nakarí and Cristo del pescador, among many others. In 1982, on his initiative, and with the participation of other musicians from Margarita, the Nueva Esparta State Musical Association was created, and he was Secretary General for a period of eight years. He gave concerts in the Aula Magna of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), and in the universities of the Andes (ULA) and Zulia (LUZ). The singer and songwriter Jesús Ávila died in his hometown on July 14, 2012. And he was buried in the Los Robles cemetery. Living Cultural Heritage of the Nueva Esparta State.
