The Band Of The Vintage Jazz Society Of Brisbane.

One of Australia’s best traditional jazz bands was formed in Brisbane in 1973 by saxophonist Andy Jenner (b. 12 July 1943, Cheshire, England). In March 1974 the band formed the Vintage Jazz Society of Brisbane and operated successfully at the Twelfth Night Theatre Club for six years. In 1981 the band opened their own jazz club, Jabbo’s, in Brisbane. The Vintage Jazz And Blues Band’s success peaked in the mid-80s when the essential line-up was Tich Bray (b. 22 December 1924, Geelong, Victoria, Australia, d. 1988) who replaced Jenner, John Braben, Mike Hawthorne, Bob Watson (drums), John Cox (banjo), and Paula Cox (vocals).
