The band MEPHISTO was founded in September 1997 in the City of Holguín, Cuba. MEPHISTO is the first Cuban metal group to mix black metal chords of the old school in the 90's with the emerging sounds of today's metal scene, creating Cuba's first sub genre of Black Metal. At the same time they were the first to present this genre of music on the Cuban national scene to much critical acclaim.
