Rose Rubin (2)

American singer of Yiddish songs (1892-1931). Born in Kalinovka near Kamianets-Podilskyi in Russia (now Western Ukraine). Having lost her father at age 4, she emigrated with her mother and sister to Philadelphia, where her singing talent was discovered. She became a vaudeville and theater actress, performing first in Philadelphia, then also in New York and Toronto. She was married to actor William Ziegenlaub, with whom she recorded a number of Yiddish songs. She died in New York in 1931.
