Ye Goat-Herd Gods

Ye Goat-Herd Gods, Calgary’s masters of dark heavy metal music, find inspiration for their songs in history, Mesopotamian mythology, and Romantic era poetry. The band’s name derives from the 1593 poem Ye Goatherd Gods by Sir Philip Sidney. YGHG was a solo project by founder and guitarist/songwriter Jeanie Keebler until 2014, when vocalist/guitarist Gord Olson, drummer Matt Telgen, and bassist Matt Riley joined to become a live band. The music blends melodic heavy metal with a vocal style reminiscent of the lid being slid off a stone coffin by the undead resting within.
