Swiss bell player, musician and songwriter, born in 1929 in Zermatt, Kanton Wallis. Burgener first learned to play accordeon and was student of Bobby Zaugg. Starting from 1949, he became also songwriter for folkloristic music, later he composed one of his best-known pieces called "Jubiläumsmarsch" and wrote the score for the folkloristic movie "Roggenbrot". He also wrote works for Alphorn in the Zermatt-region. In 1959, he started to play bells. In 1971, his son Alex Burgener and his nephew Josef Burgener joined him to form the Glockenspiel-Trio Burgener. Also, he formed together with his son the Glockenspiel-Duo Burgener. With both groups, he went famous in the genre and had numerous performances in television, radio and made concerts even in far countries as Japan.
