Jeff Smith (3)

San Antonio, Texas vocalist and co-founder of Hickoids. He started a punk band called The Dwarves (not the San Francisco Dwarves) and hasn't stopped playing punk, and variations on the theme, with Hickoids and the Gay Sportscasters. Smith also owns and operates the Saustex Media record label, which he started in 2003. It's home to Piñata Protest, Copper Gamins, Churchwood, Snowbyrd, Glambilly, T. Tex Edwards and others. Smith frequently promotes shows, including the annual “A Town South of Austin” showcases of San Antonio bands at South by Southwest. Smith also has helped get the South Texas Popular Culture Center off the ground. From the late 1990s into the early 2000s, Smith was a co-owner of the Hole in the Wall, an eclectic bar/live music venue on Guadalupe Street in Austin. He eventually left Austin and returned to San Antonio. Smith also has given assists to bands from outside the U.S. including Australian country band Chuck's Wagon and German country/roots group The Boss Hoss, both of which found Smith via the Internet.
