Hired by Capitol Records as writer/producer in the mid 40s, he create the popular children's entertainment character Bozo The Clown. Moved to the music department as vice president in the early 50s, he revived [a52833]'s career, flanking him with a new working group and arrangers. In 1960 he was nominated president of Capitol, remaining in office until the early 70s. As president, he signed [a82730] in 1963, with ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ as first single, after the label refused to distribute the group's previous hits, released in UK by the sister company EMI, deeming them unsuitable for the US market. In 1970 he founded the independent label Mediarts, together with Nick Venet. In August 1976, Livingston joined Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation as Senior Vice President.
