Henri (Enrique) Miro

Canadian pianist, conductor and critic (b. Spain 1879- d. Montreal 1950). He studied at the Barcelona Conservatory of Music and later toured France for three years with various opera companies. Miro came to Montreal in 1902 and remained the rest of his life. During this period he was an active participant in the musical scene in Montréal. Miro enjoyed moderate local and national success as a composer and director of concert music and musical theatre, and was featured on radio broadcasts and popular recordings. He was musical director at the Berliner Gramophone Company, and later worked in the same position for the Compo Company.
