Jæ' Sweevers

Danish traditional folk trio from Fanø, formed in the late 1980s by Peter Uhrbrand (violin), Ole Mouritzen (accordion) and Erling Brinch (piano). After Erling Brinch's death in 1994, Ove Søgaard gradually became the new permanent pianist. Jæ' Sweever's music is based in the Sønderho dance music tradition. When the Sønderho violinist Frits Brinch stopped playing, the newcomer Peter Uhrbrand (b.1953, resident in Sønderho from 1977) gradually took over the role of Sønderho's new leading violinist. Erling Brinch had gradually taken over the piano playing from his father, Søren Lassen Brinch, and together with the former musician in Sand På Gulvet, Ole Mouritzen, they formed the Jæ' Sweevers trio. The name, Jæ' Sweevers, came about with inspiration from the American folk quartet, The Weavers.
