Mrs. C. R. Melton

Alice Herrington Melton (1921-2009) was born in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. She and [a13734889] were married in 1938 in Meridian, Mississippi. Alice and Clarence founded The All American Quartet while living in Tennessee, but they soon relocated to Illinois. Alice sang in the quartet and served as their accompanist on piano or accordion for periods throughout the quartet’s existence from 1946 through the early 1970s. She was also a gifted songwriter.
