Born: April 8, 1925 Died: January 14, 2015 One of the best ever players of viola campaniça, it was largely due to him that this instrument never became extinct. With his wife Perpétua Maria and nephew Francisco António he formed a group that helped preserve the viola campaniça. He also was the professor of Pedro Mestre and Carlos Loução.
