Austin, Texas singer, guitarist and frontman of Johnny Dee And The Rocket 88's. Landers was born in Abilene, Texas on January 15, 1951. Landers performed and toured the Abilene area with Dan Wallace, Bill Maddox, and Noel Kelton in a band called Omaha. He later was a member of rock and roll band Cadillac, which included Maddox, Kelton and Stephen Barber. In 1971, he moved to Austin with the other members of Cadillac. In Austin, he took on the stage name and retro persona of Johnny Dee and formed new band Johnny Dee and The Rocket 88’s with a repertoire of early rock and roll dance songs and doo wop. He continued performing as Johnny Dee until his death on October 17, 2011. The Rocket 88’s continued to perform.
