March 15, 1926 - January 5, 2015 Bill Hickman attended Willard High School (Willard, MO) and Drury College (Springfield, MO). He played in various dance bands as well as serving as staff pianist at radio station KWTO. While still a student at Drury, he had the honor of acting as page-turner to Fritz Kreisler's pianist, Carl Lamson, at their January 24, 1947 concert at the Springfield Shrine Mosque. In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and then played professionally for a time in New York and Chicago. Mr. Hickman returned to Springfield, Missouri in 1954 and began a long career with the Springfield Public Schools. After his retirement in 1986, he began a second career providing dinner music at Riverside Inn and The Tower Club for over 20 years. He also served as pianist with the Springfield Symphony and as organist at Pathways United Methodist Church.
