English professor, gravestone historian, and folklorist. He records most of his music at home, accompanied by Mark Babson. In the course of his folklore fieldwork Meyer discovered "The Hanging of Fred LeBeau," a Montanan murder ballad dating from the first or second decade of the twentieth century. He was the first to record and release a version of the song (on his enormous homemade multi-CD compilation "Dick Meyer, Live In the Previous Century").
