Barbershop lead/bass vocalist. Born on December 26, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jack was the youngest of five sons born to Oscar “Doc” and Ivy Evans. Jack watched his father and his four older brothers all sing in quartets and would soon join them. Jack joined his brothers’ quartet in 1933 as their lead and would remain the lead singer until 1957 when he switched to bass. He and the quartet earned 5th place bronze medals in 1958 and 2nd place silver medals in 1959. Jack earned his gold medal with the Evans Quartet in Dallas, TX in 1960. Unfortunately, Jack was transferred out of town and had to leave the quartet just one year after their victory. Jack would rejoin the quartet ten years later and sing with them again until the quartet’s retirement in 1981. Aside from singing with the Evans Quartet, Jack was an active member of LDS and directed many choirs within it. Jack died from a heart attack on February 27, 1987 in Salt Lake City at the age of 63.
