American songwriter of the 1920s (born May 26, 1893 in Manaroneck, NY - died January 4, 1970 in New Rochelle, NY) Booker worked as a shipping clerk and machinist in New Rochelle, NY, but on the side he wrote songs and lyrics. During World War I, he served in the Signal Corps, rising to Corporal (May to December 1918). From the 1930s he was a postal clerk in New York City. His most successful songs were "Hey Hey And Hee Hee (I'm Charleston Crazy)" (1924, co-written with Charles Matson) and "Geechee" a.k.a "Geechee Stomp" (1928, co-written with Claude Austin).
