Swedish opera singer, born September 23, 1882 in Salem parish, died August 5, 1968 in Stockholm. She studied in Uppsala, after that she was a student at the Conservatory of Music and the Opera School 1902–1906 and was further educated by Matilda Jungstedt and Gillis Bratt and by Ida Brag in Berlin. She made her debut at the Royal Theater in Stockholm in 1911 as Michaëla in Carmen and Nedda in Pajazzo and appeared in a few more plays on the same stage 1913–1914. From 1916 to 1921, Pegel was involved with the Oscar Theater, where she appeared as Sylva Varescu in The Princess of Csardas, The Empress in Maria Theresia, Rosalinda in The Leather Patch and Lolly in Rubber. She guest performed on various stages in Sweden, Norway and Finland and also appeared as a concert and oratorio singer. From 1925 she worked as a singing teacher in Stockholm. From 1907 she was married to the music director Georg Pegel.
