Popular Cuban artist (La Habana, May 26, 1925), also known as "Juana la Cubana" and "Juana La Caliente". She started her professional singing career under the aegis of [a2027861], who composed the famous guaracha "Yo Soy Juana Bacallao", which became her stage name. Until 1959 her presence was banned on television in her country and her career was limited to performances in nightclubs. This would determine in her the development of a somewhat extravagant stage theatricality. Juana Bacallao worked at the Hotel Capri in "La Serenata", with Meme Solís, Moraima Secada and Celeste Mendoza, and "La Caperucita se divierte". Other performances of Juana were at the Campoamor Theater, Los Aires Libres de Prado, the cabarets Sans Sousi, Tropicana, Copa Room of the Riviera, Parisien of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, Salón Rojo of the Capri, Caribe of the Hotel Habana Libre, the Bar Alí and Palermo. Throughout his career he performed with personalities such as [a145288], Bola De Nieve, Ninón Sevilla, Mario Moreno "Cantinflas", Rosita Fornes, Omara Portuondo, [a302018], Beny Moré, Chano Pozo, Alexis Valdés and Elena Burke. In 2020 Bacallao was awarded the Cuban Premio Nacional del Humor (National Humor Prize).
