Ray Powers

Ray Powers is a second-generation performer born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. His dad was the bass vocalist in the NYC vocal groups, The Deacons and The Montclairs. Formally trained on piano at age six, he developed and honed his perfect pitch and would later teach himself to play bass and guitar. Powers co-founded the melodic hard rock band INNER SOUL in 1994, and the group released the single FOREVER in 1998. The song earned Powers and his collaborators their first Billboard Songwriting Award - one of three they would win that year. Ray has toured with rock and roll and R/B heavyweights such as Tavares, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Marvelettes, The Platters and Huw Gower of The Records. In 2010, Powers co-produced and sang backgorunds on the track YESTERDAYS DESTINY for The Drifters Charlie Thomas, then kicked off a headline tour with BACKBEAT JAMBOREE. Ray, along with Charlie Moose Muccigrosso, front the NJ cover band NEW TRICKS and play the bigger bars and clubs in the NY tri-state area. Currently part of a production team with Mad Mike Cullens .
