ZEN VODOU is Los Angeles band (started around 2002) consisting of singer Reece McLaughlin and brothers Diego and Lenny Ibarra on the guitar and bass respectively. Anger, rage, bliss & forgiveness… Zen Vodou creates a dark and heavy sound that leaves you with the unyielding hope for the future. Sound strange? Singer McLaughlin combines a vast range of talent that reminds you of David Gahan/Jim Morrison mixed with Al Jourgensen and Trent Reznor. The guitar, although heavy and in your face, is seasoned with an intense Spanish guitar melody that sets this group apart from the crowd. Combining this with McLaughlin's superior programming and texturing, the Zen Vodou sound is one that is uniquely profound, transforming the listeners' senses to new dimensions of consciousness. With the constant fluid movement their music provides, the songs become layered in such a way that makes you wonder how they did it. As a group, the members have taken their time to get to know each other’s strengths and have developed the ability to play off of them in such a way that becomes pure melodic & energetic magic. Zen Vodou released two songs on the "Suicidal Friends and Family Vol.2", album in 2001, a compilation done by Suicidal Tendencies' own label. Their new Album is Due in 2007, and will be produced by Keith Hillebrandt (Nine Inch Nails & David Bowie)
