Manuel Archuleta

Manuel Archuleta was a clerk at the Albuquerque Indian School when he launched the first Native American-owned record company in the mid-1940s. A native of the San Juan Pueblo, Archuleta also lectured on American Indian music at local public schools and the University of New Mexico. He made field recordings at several pueblos in the Albuqueque area, which were released in two album sets. He also recorded several of his own songs with his daughters and his wife, Alcia, in the guise of the Tom Tom Family Singers.
